Rise Summer Challenge - The Latest

Just got this e-mail from the nice folk at Rise -

"Due to the high volume of scripts which we have received we hope to announce a winner some time in April. Rest assured, we will be contacting all the all the applicants via email and will post a winner on our site.

Thank you,

The Summer Challenge Team "

Anyone else enter?

I got the same email, but it's way past April now. Anyone heard anything else about when the Rise results are due?

I entered the Rise Summer Challenge too and have heard nothing. Maybe they got swamped. Should have told us they were going to be late with the results though - could have posted a message on their website at the very least - not bothering doesn't make them look very professional. They don't seem to be at all organised. If I won, I think I'd be worried!!

I got an e-mail a couple of months back saying I hadn't made it past the first stage, so maybe it's a good thing you haven't received any word yet...

I entered too, but haven't heard anything. It seems a very very long wait. Anyone know else hear anything or know what's happening?

Nope, haven't heard anything either. Maybe it's all fallen apart? I read they got a lot of entires. Sounds to me like a young company who didn't know what they were getting into when they decided to run this competition. Seems there's not much to do but wait and see.

I emailed Rise a week or so ago to find out the status of the Summer Challenge - haven't received any response. Perhaps someone else would like to try...

I emailed them last week and didn't hear back either. Check out Jez Freedman's Screenwriting on the Blog site as he heard back with another holding comment. Surely after nearly 12 month's of silence they can't say they own the rights to the submitted work of all of the entrants who are still waiting to hear? What do we think guys?

No answer to my email a couple of weeks ago either. Sadly, I don't think the Rise team are with it at all. I wouldn't have minded the long wait if they'd let us know what's happening... but it does seem poor form to leave entrants hanging on forever for news or results.

hi everyone,

been following this thread with interest. finally got an email from Rise saying I hadn't won.

Shame but at least what it does mean is that they haven't fallen apart, are still working on it, and hopefully will announce a winner sometime this year!

So if you haven't heard, you may well still be in the hat. Fingers crossed and good luck to you.

Until I read this blog I was almost getting excited, after all..nearly a year without having heard anything and working on the 'no news is good news' premise etc..but I'm now thinking it's all just gone wrong.

I did chase things up in April and on 1st May I received this response:

"I'm sorry for the incredibly long wait. Due to the large amount of screenplays we received we haven't picked a winner as of yet. We are about to finalise a short-list but because we have more people involved in the reading its taking some time to coordinate everyone's schedule and come up with it. We have sent out one elimination email already so if you haven't received one your probably still in the running. Thank you for your patience. Manu"

I found the word 'probably' a bit worrying at the time, now I'm starting to really think that although receipt of my manuscript was acknowledged almost a year ago now could it have somehow slipped through the net and not even been looked at. Imagine that !

Does anyone have any updated news on this Summer Challenge and its possible outcome/ongoing issues ?

I received the 'thanks but no thanks' letter in September (?) too but I'm fascinated to know what finally happened with this competition (if anything). Nothing at all on their web site which is amazing. Anyone know anything?
